For Photos. Videos, Do Homework

Choosing a photographer and video producer for your wedding day will depend on what style of photos and video you want and, of course, your budget.

There are no second chances - wondering if the pictures are going to work out is the last thing you want to worry about on the day.

One of the ways you can be sure that photographs are of high quality is by asking the photographer if he/she is a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) or the Professional Photographers Association (PPA).

Membership of the AIPP is open to individual photographers after they have submitted a portfolio of their work to a judging panel, which then invites them to become certified members.

The PPA sets ethical business practice standards for full-time professional photographic studios.

To obtain membership, studios must submit a portfolio of their work for the consideration of the PPA Council. PPA members are also certified professionals.

Above all, the best way to make sure you will be satisfied with the quality of your wedding photographs and the ability of your photographer is to thoroughly inspect their portfolios yourself.

Apply the same rule of thumb to a video producer.

By viewing the work of the photographer and video producer, couples can judge the quality for themselves.
